WWE: Main Event

Main Event debuted in it’s current form in 2012 on American channel Ion Television. It has some similarities with Saturday Night’s Main Event with the only difference between the two being the time of the show. Main Event only runs for an hour whereas SNME ran for two hours. It shows main event matches outside of the main programming and pay per views, and adds a promotional format as well. This program filled the one night that WWE had not yet filled, giving it a weekday presence every night – with only NXT not on television. This changed upon the advent of the WWE Network as Main Event moved to Tuesdays and was presented live – until early 2015 when it was pulled due to a contract clash with Sky Sports in the UK. In America however it continued to be shown on Hulu and has been replayed on the WWE Network in more recent times presumably as the contract with Sky Sports expired.

In Australia, Main Event was shown before NXT on a Thursday afternoon on Fox8, until the end of July 2016 when international contract obligations were fulfilled.
